Find an effective way to detox your body after the festive period is always a daunting task. As dry January is unfolding it is also a good idea to start paying attention to the daily routine you skipped during the month of December. Eating lighter at dinner to sleep better, cutting down on alcohol ( a glass of wine has 160 calories!) and work your way into exercising is a good start. Simply put, the detox process will require you to make lifestyle changes to clear your body of toxins. Some changes will prove to be temporary, such as following a cleansing diet, but others you need to make permanent.
Replace a meal each day with a detoxifying smoothie of your choice
Steps to follow to detox your body:
1.Turn to organic foods when possible, you’ll find a good selection of fresh vegetables in your local supermarkets. This way you will eliminate all that nasty preservatives and chemicals used to make the food last longer
2.Drink far more water, at least 2 litres a day. You can replace the water with tea as long as you do not add sugar or honey
3.Replace the morning coffee with green tea. Hard to do but an effective tool to help your body detox as green tea has plenty of antioxidants
4.Get more exercise and do cardio exercise three times a week to increase your stamina and improve mental performance.
5.Eat more fibre for breakfast and lunch and include chili and lemon into your diet to boost your metabolism.
Establish a sleeping routine in the evening and ban all sugars, caffeine and heavy food from 4 pm.
Keep in mind toxins are any substance that can be poisonous or cause negative health effects and we call “toxins” all the metals, chemicals, pollutants, artificial food ingredients, pesticides, and poisons that cause the body harm.
As your body is detoxifying itself around the clock, 24/7, even while you sleep, it’s essential to take care of your organs and allow them to do their job. Do it by:
• Choosing the right foods as detoxifying your body is not only about what you avoid, but also about what you consume.
• Exercise daily as it helps you sweat and sweating helps release toxins through your skin
• Detoxifying your body is not only about what you avoid, but also about what you consume.
• Purify the air you breathe as clean air reduces your exposure to toxins.
• Purify your body with water as is possibly the most valuable tool for detoxifying your body.
