When Christmas comes around, everything has to be in tip-top condition for the photos; your makeup, nails, clothes and especially your hair. And when we look back at the old Christmas photos the first thing that catches our eye is usually the way our hair was styled. This made me think how hard it is for us ladies, especially when hairstyle changes so often. To be well prepared this Christmas, I put together some Do’s that never go out of style. Here it goes:
Do’s
1. Take some time to surf the internet and find your latest favourite hairstyle on a celebrity. Celebrities always make sure that they are always are on top of the trends, so you can as well! After you have selected your favourite hairstyle, take yourself to your hairdressers and show them the hairstyle they of all people would be able to replicate it.
2. As Christmas just happens to be in winter, your hair becomes dry and brittle if you don’t look after it properly. Make sure to use a healing and protecting shampoo and conditioner which also moisturises.
3. Use either: coconut, almond or extra virgin oil to massage into your hair. Do this twice a week, leaving it in for half an hour and wash out with very warm water, finishing with cold water to fatten up the hair cuticle. This results in silky thick luscious hair which will leave your cousins jealous.
4. Make sure not to over style your hair as this can damage the strands. Try to do as little as you can with it as it will also look natural.
5. Drink plenty of water and eat healthily. You can always tell when someone isn’t drinking enough water or eating healthily as their hair is always so agile and thin. To make the most out of your new do, always drink eight glasses a day.
Styles to try
• Braids. You can never go wrong with braids and they will forever be in style. Try braided crowns or French braids both are in style right now.
• Soft imperfect waves. These are beautiful during this time of year and always look good on everyone no matter their length.
• Try Ombre hair is totally in right now and is a gorgeous way of showing the transitions of colours. The best colours to try is blonde at the top while it leads down to a chestnut brown.
• For African hair, try an elegant Updo with twists which will look gorgeous on anyone.
Now that you know some of the secrets to flawless hair, looking fabulous this Christmas won’t be that hard anymore!
